HOW TO INSTALL THE UPDATE

  • Close BenguFarm

  • The file must be downloaded as usual to your computer, i.e.: Right Click on the update link and select "Save Target As..." or "Save Link As...". A dialog will open where the user can select where the update file must be saved to. The easiest will be to select "My Documents". Once the save to location is selected, click on "Save" to start downloading the file. If Windows gives you a Discard or Keep option when starting to download the update file, select Keep. If your computer still does not allow you to download the file, you will need to set an exclusion for the the BenguFarm web-page or de-activate your computer's anti-virus temporarily and try again. It is highly recommended to set an exclusion and not to de-activate your anti-virus at any time. If you do select to deactivate your anti-virus, know that your computer is vulnerable and you are taking a risk. We strongly recommend against this.

  • Once the download has completed, the self-extracting zip file must be run. Select "Run" from the "Download Complete" dialog. (The download complete dialog is displayed by the web browser once the file download has completed.). Windows may give a security warning and ask the user whether the file must be run or not. Select "More Info" and/or "Run" / "Run Anyway" to run the update file.
  • The update will automatically search for the BenguFarm installation folder and update all the necessary files. Just wait until the "Update Installed" message is displayed. Click OK to close this message. Remember to activate your anti-virus again in case you have temporarily de-activated it.

  • If you updated from a version of BenguFarm prior to the current generation that utilizes Microsoft SQL Server for its database(s), the update utility will detect if Microsoft SQL Server is present or not. If not, you will be presented with a screen where you must select which type of SQL Server you want to install. For computers with 8GB and less RAM its recommended to use SQL Server LocalDB. Clients running virtual Windows on their Apple Mac MUST install SQL Server LocalDB. If you have a Windows only computer with more than 8 GB of RAM its recommended to install a SQL Server Instance. Select the SQL Server type and click on install. Follow the onscreen instructions and/or prompts. If you are working in an office with BenguFarm database(s) shared on a network, SQL Server will have to be installed on the server and not your computer. In such a case do not install SQL Server and contact your BenguFarm agent for assistance.

    Once SQL Server and the BenguFarm update are installed, the previsous version BenguFarm Microsoft Access database(s) will have to be converted to Microsft SQL Server. The update utility will open the BenguFarm Database Conversion Utility. It will attempt to configure SQL Server, analyse the existing database(s) and prompt you to start the conversion. Select to start the conversion.

    If you are not presented with a message to confirm whether you wish to start the conversion, it is an indication that the utility did not pick up SQL Server automatically. In such a case, specify the correct SQL Server configuration at the top of the screen. Click on 'Test Connection' to verify that SQL Server configuration is correct. You should get a message 'Connection Succeeded' upon success. If the connection succeeds, click on 'Analyse', select the database(s) that must be converted and click on 'Start Conversion'.

    Once done there should be a message next to each database that it has been converted to MSSQL.

    The database(s) must be successfully converted to MSSQL for the new version of BenguFarm to work. It is thus very important to please contact your BenguFarm agent if you experience any problems converting the old format BenguFarm database(s) to MSSQL.

  • Open BenguFarm and check if the correct version is indeed installed. (Version info is displayed at the top of the main window.)

Download and Install BenguFarm (TM) MOBILE 16 September 2026 Update

Please note that BenguFarm MOBILE is developed to run on Android devices running Android LolliPop (Android 5) and later. It is to be used side-by-side with BenguFarm BEEF, SHEEP & GOATS and GAME.

Step 1: Download the BenguFarm MOBILE Android APK Installer File to your Android Smartphone or Tablet

Step 2: Install BenguFarm MOBILE

Long click on the downloaded BenguFarm MOBILE apk file. Your browser will bring up a menu. Select Download link. Once download, click on the downloaded installer file to install BenguFarm MOBILE.
At this stage the smartphone or tablet should be set to accept "Unknown Sources - All installation or apps from unknown sources". This should be able to be done under Settings > Security on a smartphone. Once BenguFarm MOBILE is installed, disable the "unknown sources" setting again on your smartphone/tablet. Newer versions of Android may also ask onscreen approval before it will install the app.

This version op BenguFarm MOBILE should be used with BenguFarm 19 August 2026 (A) or later.
